The new story at Riverside Salter Point is the next instalment in a rich history that dates back to 1972 when the Baptist Homes Board was established in response to the need that existed among seniors for suitable accommodation and nursing care.
Riverside Salter Point has grown out of a redevelopment of Baptistcare’s original facility, Gracewood Village, which opened its first buildings in 1975 and underwent expansion in 1982. However, the story at Salter Point – in Gracewood and in the new story unfolding at Riverside – has always been based on characters. Some larger than life, some quietly content and some playing cameo roles from time to time.
Whether through the vision of Baptist Homes and the management of Baptistcare across the different eras of Gracewood’s development, or in the characters and communities that have woven themselves into the rich tapestry of the place, this is a story that is still unfolding.
